The Ohio County Historical Society is a non profit organization dedicated collecting and preserving authentic information, facts, and relics connected with the history of Ohio County, Kentucky.  The society was reorganized in 1971, and opened a museum in 1973.  It soon outgrew that building and moved into the Thomas House in 1975.  All kinds of items are on display and one of the knowledgeable volunteers would love show people around. In addition to the Thomas House, there are an authentic L&N caboose, a one room school, one room store, a log cabin, and a building filled with period tools. There is also a Veteran’s Museum with exhibits about local men and women who have served in the military. The one room school came from the Goshen area.  It was disassembled and reassembled on the society’s property and dedicated in 1996.  Visitors can see what education was like in the 1800s.  Youngsters may even be allowed to ring the bell!
