Danbury Twp. School, Marblehead, OH

Danbury Twp. Elementary School

111 W. Main St. Lakeside

Marblehead, OH 43440

From 1893 to 1935, the former elementary school in Marblehead, Ohio, was the local elementary school in Danbury Township, Ottawa County.  It was built by the Kelly Island Lime and Transport Company, from native limestone. For about twenty years, the Schoolhouse Gallery was at this location, and sold items with a nautical theme. The Schoolhouse Gallery in Marblehead, OH, was a great place to shop, whether looking for a unique souvenir or a cool nautical piece. The Gallery was located in the old schoolhouse with several rooms of everything from boutique jewelry, hats, men’s wear, kids, women’s, etc. They even added a bar and cafe where shoppers could sit and have a drink and something to eat. They also sold yummy fudge in a huge variety (over 60 flavors).  However, it is reported that the Schoolhouse Gallery is permanently closed.  Now the former schoolhouse is home to the Red Fern Inn at Rocky Point Winery.
