Gettysburg National Military Park Museum and Visitor Center, Gettysburg, PA

After finishing our Gettysburg Battlefield Tour and eating lunch, we went to the Gettysburg National Military Park Museum and Visitor Center, which is in a brand new building at 1195 Baltimore Pike, Gettysburg, PA  17325 (877-874-2478; www.gettysburgfoundation.org ).  We passed by the old visitors center on our tour, and it’s a shame that it’s just sitting there empty and unused.

  •      In addition, there are two theaters in which Morgan Freeman narrates A New Birth of Freedom, the first part explaining the Battle of Gettysburg and the second Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address.  Finally there is the Gettysburg Cyclorama Painting, originally displayed in 1884, which literally surrounds one with the fury of Pickett’s Charge.
